Ottawa–Toronto VIA Rail Schedule Changes Take Effect October 25

Ottawa travellers face a revised VIA Rail timetable starting Sunday, October 25, 2026, with an average of one fewer daily train between Ottawa and Toronto, according to the operator.

VIA’s September 16 announcement says Train 641 ends. An early-morning option remains on Train 41, with an Ottawa departure of 4:56 a.m. and Toronto arrival of 9:37 a.m. Several other trains change operating days, so travellers should check the schedule for their specific travel date rather than rely on a familiar departure.

VIA says Guildwood and Malton will no longer be served under the changes. Its September 25 winter-schedule notice describes reduced connectivity for some communities and says service will transition to a summer schedule in spring 2027.

Before arranging a station drop-off or a connecting trip, confirm your departure, destination station and booking details directly with VIA. The changes were announced in September and take effect today.
