People travelling between Ottawa and Gatineau overnight should plan around closures of the Chaudière Crossing beginning Wednesday, October 28.

Public Services and Procurement Canada announced October 26 that the crossing will close nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the October 28–November 7 period for rehabilitation work under the Southern Structures Renewal Project.

Motorists will be redirected to the Portage Bridge, while heavy trucks will use the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge. Local traffic will remain permitted between Alexandre-Taché Boulevard and Zaida Eddy Private.

Pedestrians and cyclists are also affected. Their signed detour will run via Chaudière Private and the Ottawa River Pathway.

The department says weather could alter the schedule. Residents should check the official notice for updates before an overnight trip.
