Ottawa households on Ontario’s Regulated Price Plan should review their electricity plan before new prices and winter schedules take effect November 1, 2026.

In its October 16 announcement, the Ontario Energy Board set time-of-use prices at 9.1 cents per kilowatt-hour off-peak, 14.6 cents mid-peak and 18.9 cents on-peak.

Winter weekday on-peak periods are 7 to 11 a.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Off-peak pricing applies from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and throughout weekends and holidays.

For residential customers using tiered pricing, the lower-priced winter allowance becomes 1,000 kWh per month. The first tier costs 11.2 cents per kWh; usage above it costs 13.2 cents.

The Ontario Electricity Rebate also changes to 15.7 percent. Energy prices alone do not determine the total bill, which includes other charges and applicable rebates.

Check your latest bill to identify your plan, then use the OEB’s comparison calculator with your own usage. Different households can have different bill impacts.
