Hybrid Heart Trail Race Unites Ottawa Runners for Cancer Support

Ottawa runners came together at Wesley Clover Parks on Sunday, October 25, 2026, for the inaugural Hybrid Heart 5K and 10K Trail Race, supporting the Ottawa Cancer Foundation.

The event was created in memory of Carole Rocheleau, mother of race director Tyler Booth, who died following her experience with cancer. Organizers developed the race to honour her memory while bringing different athletic communities together for a local cause.

Participants could complete one five-kilometre trail loop or take on two laps for the 10K distance. A guided five-kilometre walking group provided another way to participate.

The official Race Roster fundraising page displayed $15,018.88 in donations when checked on October 26. This represents the amount shown on the platform, rather than a confirmed final event total. Organizers pledged to donate 100 per cent of net event proceeds to the Ottawa Cancer Foundation.

According to the organizers, the funds will support local programs and services for people affected by cancer.

The founding edition marked the beginning of an initiative that organizers hope to develop into an annual gathering centred on movement, remembrance and community support.
