Nevalette Zayet: A Mother’s Voice for Families in CEPEO Zone 12
A mother of three children attending CEPEO schools, Nevalette Zayet is campaigning for school board trustee with a focus on listening to parents, supporting students and strengthening community connections.
For families, school is more than a place where children learn. It is where they build friendships, develop confidence and begin shaping their future. Nevalette Zayet says she wants to bring that family perspective to the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO), where she is running for school board trustee in Zone 12.
Her campaign message is simple: “Une mère engagée. Une voix qui vous représente.” An engaged mother. A voice that represents you.
A personal connection to school life
As a mother of three children who attend CEPEO schools, Zayet describes a close connection to the concerns families face. In her campaign materials, she points to experience serving families and the community, alongside active involvement in school and community life.
She says that perspective motivates her candidacy: representing parents, defending students’ interests and helping build a school board that is closer to families, more inclusive and attentive to different voices.
Bringing a varied educational background
According to her campaign flyer, Zayet holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and communications and a master’s degree in psychology. She also lists training in early childhood education.
These areas connect with the themes of her campaign: communication, understanding people and supporting children’s development.
Her stated commitment is to be an accessible trustee who maintains regular dialogue with parents, students, school staff and communities—and brings their voices to the board.
Three priorities at the heart of her campaign
Zayet’s platform centres on three priorities:
- A meaningful voice for parents: encouraging open communication, transparency and collaboration with CEPEO.
- Student success and well-being: promoting an environment where every child feels heard, supported and accompanied.
- A stronger, more inclusive community: building connections between parents, schools and the wider community.
Together, these priorities present a vision of school governance built around relationships. Her campaign places listening and ongoing dialogue at the centre of how she hopes to serve.
A call to participate
With election day approaching on October 26, 2026, Zayet is encouraging participation under the message “Votre voix compte !” — “Your voice matters!”
For her, the campaign’s central promise is to bring the perspective of a parent, a community member and an advocate for stronger connections to the trustee role.
Her closing message captures that ambition: “Ensemble, faisons la différence !” — “Together, let’s make a difference!”
