Senators Deliver 5-1 Answer on an Emotional Night Against Florida
The atmosphere was charged, the familiar face wore different colours, and Ottawa supplied the strongest response on the scoreboard.
The Senators defeated the Florida Panthers 5-1 at Canadian Tire Centre on October 21, spoiling former captain Brady Tkachuk’s return to Ottawa.
Tkachuk received repeated boos from the crowd, but initially answered with a power-play goal that put Florida ahead. Ottawa then scored five unanswered goals to take control of the evening.
Tim Stutzle brought the Senators level in the first period. Claude Giroux and Shane Pinto added second-period goals, before Warren Foegele and Stephen Halliday completed the scoring in the third.
Stutzle and Halliday each finished with a goal and an assist, while Jake Sanderson contributed two assists. Ottawa’s production came from several players, helping turn a game dominated by pre-match emotion into a convincing team result.
There was also concern for the Senators when goaltender Linus Ullmark left early in the third period. Samuel Ersson entered in relief and faced only one shot. Ullmark’s departure was an unwelcome development on an otherwise successful night.
The victory ended Florida’s three-game winning streak and gave Ottawa a memorable home performance.
While Tkachuk’s return supplied the storyline, the Senators’ response supplied the result: an early deficit overcome, five different scorers and a decisive finish in front of their supporters.
